Coming Soon: Patient Handbook in Spanish

BMT InfoNet's popular patient handbook Bone Marrow & Blood Stem Cell Transplants: A Guide for Patients will soon be available in Spanish, thanks to support from the National Marrow Donor Program, The Marrow Foundation, and Fujisawa, Inc. The book was translated into Spanish by Isay Podgaetz, a survivor of two bone marrow transplants and a professional translator, who lives in Mexico.

Trasplantes de Médula Ósea y de Células Progenitoras en Sangre Periférica: Una Guía Para Pacientes will contain the same information that's in the English version of the book. In addition, it will note the English words used to describe medical procedures, medications, side effects and complications, since Spanish-speaking patients in the U.S. often see or hear the English term rather than the Spanish term. The book was reviewed by a team of Spanish-speaking transplant physicians and nurses from different Spanish-speaking countries. "We are very grateful to Dr. Ely Benaim, Dr. Celia Grosskreutz, Dr. Luis Isola, Dr. Morris Kletzel, Bernice Pasut RN, Dr. Felipe Prospero Cardoza, Dr. Gabriela Rondon, and Dr. Guillermo Ruiz-Arguelles who donated their time to review chapters of this book," says Sue Stewart of BMT InfoNet.

The book is expected to be available for shipping in June. Pre-orders are now being accepted. The price of the book will be the same as the price of the English version of the book. (click here to go to the order form)
