2006 Celebrating Life Calendar today!

Are you looking for a calendar that speaks joy and hope? Then look no further. BMT InfoNet is pleased to offer a full year of hope for 2006: a stunning calendar that celebrates the lives of fourteen people who underwent a bone marrow, blood stem cell or cord blood transplant.

Each month of the calendar introduces you–with a color photo and an essay–to someone who is active and full of life. Our survivors are from different parts of North America, have different ethnic backgrounds, are different ages, and had different diagnoses. The Celebrating Life Calendar shares their uplifting stories with you.

2006 Celebrating Life Calendar
Meet:
  • John Buchin (age 47), a transplant survivor and graphic artist who is this year's calendar designer.
  • Jennifer Kedzierski (age 12), our cover artist whose artistic talent was nurtured by her father, John, himself a painter and a transplant survivor.
  • Joseph Davis (age 6), whose little brother Isaac's cord blood saved his life. Isaac is Joseph's "best friend in the whole world."
  • Margaret Reina (age 48), whose trademark is the colorful hats and sunglasses she decorates for Mardi Gras and other festivals. (Read about her Katrina efforts in the next article.)
  • Nick Fugleberg (age 25), a North Dakota farmer who recently celebrated the birth of his second child after transplant.
  • Kenon Neal (age 40), who developed www.kidscancernetwork.org following her transplant, to encourage children with cancer.
  • Katie Krize (age 11), who loves horseback riding and finds something positive in every experience.
  • Noël Grady-Smith (age 55), a professional dancer who now teaches dance to middle-schoolers.
  • Charles DeConcini (age 57), a beekeeper and rancher who has slowed down the pace of his ranch to enjoy both the process and the product.
  • Bill Bauknecht (age 68), a seventh-degree black belt in karate who now enjoys retirement playing golf and teaching karate seminars for individuals with a disability.
  • Tracy Benckert (age 32), who enjoys camping, hiking and all things outdoors with her husband and two adopted special-needs children.
  • Andrew Howson (age 3), a happy-go-lucky kid with a great sense of humor who has blossomed since his transplant.
  • George Yamazawa (age 53), a Nichiren Buddhist, sushi restaurateur and motorcycle enthusiast who travels across the U.S. and in Japan to support those with cancer.
  • Samantha Renzer (age 16), who, when diagnosed with leukemia, didn't say "Why me?" but instead saw there was much to be learned in the journey.
