The Susan K. Stewart Patient Assistance Fund reflects the heart of BMT InfoNet’s work. As Founder and Executive Director from 1990 to 2026, Sue Stewart built this organization around one simple idea: patients and families should not have to navigate treatment alone. This fund continues that commitment by providing practical support when it is needed most.
Since its founding, this fund has provided over $1 million in support to patients and families.
This fund was created to support patient populations who are not covered by other assistance programs, ensuring help is available when other options are not.
What the Fund Provides
The Susan K. Stewart Patient Assistance Fund provides one-time grants to help transplant and CAR T-cell therapy patients with non-medical expenses during treatment.
Who Can Apply
Patients living in the United States who will have, or have had within the past 24 months:
- A transplant using their own bone marrow or stem cells
- A bone marrow or stem cell transplant using cells from a related donor
- CAR T-cell therapy
Patients with graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) who are 12 or more months post-transplant are also eligible.
Applications must be completed and submitted by a social worker or member of the transplant or CAR T-cell care team who can confirm the patient’s need for financial assistance.
